About The Speech House, LLC

The Speech House is a speech and occupational therapy clinic serving the Lake of the Ozarks and Fort Leonard Wood communities. We provide personalized, intensive, and client-centered therapy services for children and adults. We have a relaxed, yet professional environment comprised of therapists with a passion for helping our families. 

Crystal Buehre, MS CCC-SLP

Crystal, the founder and owner, is a licensed speech-language pathologist. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in English and Secondary Education from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1998, after which she taught in public schools for 7 years. In 2007, Crystal completed her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology.


Crystal has experience in hospital, home health, outpatient therapy, rehabilitation, and school settings. After opening her private practice, Crystal primarily focused on pediatric speech therapy with a special interest in early intervention services. She also provides gender affirming voice therapy.


She has successfully treated individuals with apraxia, articulation disorders, aphasia, autism spectrum, cerebral palsy, cognitive delays, Down syndrome, dysarthria, dysphagia, feeding delays, language delays (expressive and receptive), learning disabilities, seizures, stroke, and traumatic brain injury. Crystal is certified by the Missouri Board of Healing Arts and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Carrie Wilber, MS CCC-SLP

Carrie is a licensed speech-language pathologist who joined the practice in July 2021. Carrie is a Speech Language Pathologist with a degree in Speech -Language Pathology from the University of Central Missouri; a Master’s Degree in Behavior Analysis from the Florida Institute of Technology; and a Master’s Degree in Education from Lindenwood University. She is certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.


Carrie has 20 years of experience with a wide range of populations. She started her career in a level one trauma hospital in Springfield, Missouri where she worked with trach and ventilator patients, TBI, Neuro-Trauma ICU, Pediatric ICU and the Intensive Care Nursery. She then worked in the outpatient realm and began specializing in autism, feeding disorders, and behavior management. She has had the opportunity to work in outpatient, private practice, and educational settings throughout the course of her career in ages ranging from birth through adulthood. Her passions at work include parent training and support, applied behavioral analysis (ABA), autism spectrum disorder, feeding disorders, and a progressive team approach to addressing the whole child and all of their developmental needs.

In her off time, she enjoys gardening, attending concerts, traveling, golf, and spending time with her five children.


Courtney Johnson, MS CCC-SLP

Courtney is a licensed speech-language pathologist who joined the practice in July 2020. Prior to joining the practice, Courtney worked as a school-based speech therapist for the Olathe School District in Olathe, Kansas. Courtney graduated from the University of Central Missouri in August 2019 with her Master of Science in Speech- Language Pathology.

Prior to graduate school, Courtney worked in a CDC in Fort Riley, Kansas as well as a speech paraprofessional for the Olathe School District summer sessions. In her spare time, Courtney enjoys contributing to her blog HoHSpeechie, which highlights her experiences living with hearing loss.

Her experience includes the evaluation and treatment of speech sound disorders, Autism, expressive and receptive language delays, and hearing loss. She has also worked for the Missouri State Schools for the Severely Disabled and the Board of Occupational Therapy. Courtney is certified by the Missouri Board of Healing Arts and the American Speech-Language- Hearing Association.

Caitlin Coombe, MS CCC-SLP

Caity is a licensed speech-language pathologist who joined our team in January 2021. She earned her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania in May 2018. She currently holds state licenses to practice in Missouri, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. She is certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.


Caity has experience working with individuals across the lifespan in a variety of settings, including long-term acute care hospital (LTAC), skilled nursing facility (SNF), early intervention, outpatient clinic and private practice. She has provides assessments, interventions, and home management programs for aphasia, autism, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), dementia, dysphagia, dysarthria, language impairments, learning disabilities, and traumatic brain injury (TBI).


Caity actively pursues continued education opportunities in AAC, stemming from a passion to provide everyone a voice to communicate. Her puppy successfully utilizes different BigMAC switches to request for outside/bathroom and food.  

Danelle Carter, SLPA

Danelle is a certified speech-language pathology assistant who joined the practice in August 2018. She received her bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences and Disorders from the University of Kansas.


Danelle has focused on pediatric speech and early intervention services (First Steps). She is pursuing her master’s degree in speech-language pathology. Danelle is certified by the Missouri Board of Healing Arts.



Heather Simpson, COTA


Heather, an occupational therapy assistant, joined our practice in February 2021 She received her Associate of Applied Science in Occupational Therapy Assistant in 2014.


Heather has experience with children and adults with sensory, fine motor, and behavioral concerns. She enjoys working with children. Heather is licensed by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.

Courtney Moro, OTR/L

Courtney, an occupational therapist, joined our practice in 2015. Courtney obtained her Master of Occupational Therapy from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2005. 


Courtney has spent the majority of her career working full time in the specialty area of pediatrics. She has worked in the Missouri State Schools for Severely Disabled, early intervention, outpatient, and home health.


Courtney has experience with children of all ages and diagnoses, including cerebral palsy, Down’s syndrome, pervasive developmental delays, autism spectrum disorders, sensory processing disorder, learning disabilities, cognitive delays, cortical visual impairment, hearing impairments and general developmental delays. Courtney is certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy and licensed by the Missouri Board of Occupational Therapy.

Betsy Griffin, MS CCC-SLP

Betsy is a licensed speech-language pathologist who joined the practice in February 2017. She received her Master of Science in Communication Disorders from Southeast Missouri State University in May 2015. 


Betsy has experience with ages 1 to 90+ years of age through her prior work in public schools and nursing homes.  She routinely conducts therapy for the following conditions: aphasia, apraxia, articulation, autism, cognitive deficits, expressive and receptive language delays, fluency, learning disabilities, and traumatic brain injury. Betsy is certified by the Missouri Board of Healing Arts and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Madison Criswell, MS CCC-SLP

Madison is a licensed speech-language pathologist who joined the practice in July 2019. Madison graduated from Eastern New Mexico University in May 2019 with her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology. Prior to graduate school, Madison worked as a speech therapy assistant for the Clarksville School District and for a private practice clinic in Clarksville, TN. 


 Madison's experience includes the evaluation and treatment of articulation, expressive and receptive language delays, autism, fluency, and learning disabilities. Madison is certified by the Missouri Board of Healing Arts and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Celia Reiter, Office Assistant

Celia graduated from Webster University, St. Louis, MO and was awarded a BS/BA in 2000 and an MBA in 2002.  Her career has facilitated office administration and customer service across many different areas of business from front office to management.


Celia joined our staff in January 2021.  "Service with a Smile" is her outlook as she supports The Speech House staff and families. 

Lillie Allen, Billing Specialist

Lillie is responsible for billing and accounts receivable. With over 40 years of experience in office management and business ownership, Lillie provides valuable insights and leadership.
